U.S. Mint Set To Release 2018 Reverse Proof American Innovation Dollar

In mid-December of 2018, the United States Mint released, and therefore launched the American Innovation $1 Coin Program. With an introductory San Francisco Proof $1 coin, as well as Philadelphia and Denver minted coins, a multi-year series was put into motion to honor innovation and innovators with $1 coins from each State, District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, Guam, American Samoa, U.S. Virgin Islands, and the Northern Mariana Islands.

With plans to release the first four $1 coins in the Fall featuring Delaware, Georgia, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania, the Mint is first gearing up for the end up the year with a 2018 San Francisco American Innovation $1 Coin with a special Reverse Proof finish to be released Wednesday, August 14th.

Much like the already released coins, the reverse of the American Innovation Dollars features George Washington’s signature in addition to the inscriptions “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA” and “AMERICAN INNOVATORS”. The words “SIGNED FIRST PATENT” appear beneath Washington’s signature as the gears featured are to represent American spirit and it’s industry and innovation. The obverse depicts the Statue of Liberty in profile view with the inscriptions “IN GOD WE TRUST” and “$1”. Like recent $1 coins, including the Native American $1 Coins and the Presidential $1 Coins, the edge is lettered and reads “2018”, “S”, and “E PLURIBUS UNUM.”

Limited to 75,000, this special American Innovation $1 Reverse Proof Coin will come in an informational four-panel envelope-style packaging that features a Certificate of Authenticity as well as background information on our first President of the United States and the signing of the First Patent.

The complete American Innovation $1 Coin Program will encompass a Philadelphia and Denver Minted coin in addition to a San Francisco Proof and Reverse Proof Coin for each design released.
