U.S. Mint Set To Release First Ever Reverse Proof Palladium Coin

Hey collector universe, true or false: this year’s United States Mint releases have been monumental? We say true simply due to the fact that the hits just keep on coming, one right after the other. On the heels of the 2019 American Liberty High Relief Silver Medal and Gold Coin, in addition to the 2018 S Reverse Proof American Innovation $1 Coin being released, next up on the schedule is the Mint’s FIRST-EVER Reverse Proof Palladium Coin next week. Are you convinced about the epic-ness yet?

Back in 2017, a Palladium American Eagle One Ounce Bullion Program was introduced to the numismatic community. Following up on the series was a Proof version in 2018, which leads us to this year’s special Reverse Proof release.

Containing .9995 palladium, the obverse of the high relief coin features the likeness of the popular Mercury Dime design that was done by none other than Adolph A. Weinman. “Winged Liberty” is depicted alongside the inscriptions reading “LIBERTY”, “IN GOD WE TRUST”, “2019”, and the initials of Weinman at the bottom right of the $25 face value coin. It also features the ‘W’ mintmark as it was minted at West Point.

The reverse also depicts the likeness of a previous design also done by Weinman. It is the 1907 American Institute of Architects Gold Medal reverse. An eagle and a branch are seen in a high relief finish while the following inscriptions also accompany the design: “UNITED STATES of AMERICA”, $25”, “1 1OZ Pd”, “.9995 FINE”, and “E PLURIBUS UNUM”.

The initial household limit will be set at one while the total mintage limit will only be that of 30,000. Based on the previous program’s popularity, we foresee this coin to be just as popular if not more due to its first-ever status as well as the coin’s previous overall eye appeal in past versions.
