Enhanced Reverse Proof American Silver Eagle Up Next On U.S. Mint's Production Schedule

Tomorrow is the day. We repeat: TOMORROW IS THE DAY.

It may be the release of the year for the United States Mint and if you do not know what we are talking about yet, pay close attention.

For the first time ever (yes, another one of those), the Mint will be releasing an Enhanced Reverse Proof One Ounce American Silver Eagle on its own in Original Government Packaging. The mintage? Limited to 30,000. This is 125 less than the powerhouse that is the 1995-W Proof American Silver Eagle that ended with a mintage of just 30,125 as they did not meet the set 45,000.

The classic Adolph A. Weinman design is struck in .999 fine silver and minted at the San Francisco Mint. The biggest difference between a standard reverse proof coin and the enhanced reverse proof design is the multiple polished and frosted finishes that are applied to different isolated elements of the design. According to the Mint, this “selective polishing and frosting enhances the visual impact of the design.” Hence the term “enhanced”.

With each coin arriving in a blue velvet, satin-lined presentation case, it will bear the “S” mintmark and be accompanied by a numbered Certificate of Authenticity. The numbered COA is another key difference in this coin’s presentation as this is not representative of previous coins arriving in similar packaging in the past. Although it is important to note that the number on the certificates do NOT represent the order of each struck coin.

This will be a tremendous collector coin and another additive to any American Silver Eagle collection. Stay tuned for information on certified options to come
