U.S. Mint To Release 2019 S Proof American Silver Eagle

Last year in 2018, the United States Mint decided to do yet another special release that shook up the coin world in August. While not being the first of the San Francisco minted Proof American Silver Eagles to have been produced (1986-1992), it was the first to be released in addition to the already produced West Point American Silver Eagle from January. It was also encased in a dark blue box characterized as Original Government Packaging and doted the San Francisco designation.

In continuance of this additional Proof American Eagle from San Francisco, the Mint is now set to release the one troy ounce .999 fine silver Proof 2019-S Eagle for the second...read more

100 Greatest U.S. Modern Coins Series: 1982-D Washington Half Dollar Commemorative

There is an "unofficial" line drawn where vintage commemoratives end and modern commemoratives begin. Although some collectors believe vintage are the only ones worth mentioning, the success of the United States Mint’s commemorative program has included a great deal of both.

Perhaps the single biggest bridge between the two, vintage and modern, cannot be found more apparent than on the one that quite possibly revived the importance of the program nearly 40 years ago. This revival of sorts also included the first President of the United States of America.

CCAC Reveals Candidate Submissions For 2020 Basketball HOF Commemorative

If you are a regular at The Roundtable, which we hope that you are, you may remember a post back in March that talked about a certain design competition. It was not coincidental that we featured that blog as it was the week of the fanatic event that is March Madness. Ranked #1, Virginia took it all. Congratulations Cavaliers!

But if you can recall, the United States Mint announced a public design competition that would commemorate the 60th Anniversary of the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 2020. Signed in to law in December of 2018 by President Trump, Public Law 115-343 would allow for the production of domed $5 gold, $1 silver, and half-dollar clad ...read more

Native American Coin & Currency Set Released With Enhanced Uncirculated $1 Coin

This year’s United States Mint production schedule is one for the books. As the official 50th Anniversary of the Moon Landing occurred just four days ago, the amount of numismatic product surrounding and celebrating that historic event in 1969 has been vast and wide. And because of that, might we offer kudos and congratulations to the US Mint for going all-in on that celebration.

One of the designs surrounding that theme made its way on an annual release that has a yearly design change on the reverse: the Native American $1 Coin. All the ways in which the coin appears this year, including in both the 2019 Clad Proof Set and Silver Proof...read more

The Coin Vault Meet the Crew Series: Walter H.

Time flies by when you are having fun, right?

For Walter (real name is Matt), this statement rings true as his time here for the last year and a half has gone by in an instant. As a part-time director and makeshift engineer for The Coin Vault, his small amount of time here since March of 2018 has allowed him to learn a tremendous amount about the show and what we do here every Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday night.

“Just in my short time here, I’ve learned that this show and the company is very customer-driven,” Walter said. “For example, some customers will come in and will want to meet the guys and we make that happen for them. Everyone here is very upfront about what we do...read more
