U.S. Mint Announces 2020 American Silver Eagle Bullion Coins Produced at Philadelphia

With a number of things unknown in accordance with the United States Mint’s production schedule due to the COVID-19 pandemic, they recently confirmed the production of American Silver Eagle bullion coins. However, the coins were produced at Philadelphia when they are typically produced at the facility in West Point.

According to the Mint, the reduced production at West Point between April 8th and April 20th due to coronavirus measures led to the production of 240,000 American Silver Eagle bullion coins at Philadelphia. U.S. Mint Releases Design For 2020 Women's Suffrage Coin and Medal

The 19th Amendment: are you familiar with it? In this election year, it also happens to be the 100th Anniversary of said amendment. As Americans, we should all be well versed in the amendments as listed in the United States Constitution, but just in case you are having trouble with the 19th specifically, we will help out. The 19th Amendment granted women the right to vote and was the result of millions of suffragists working for decades long before the ratification organizing rallies, petitions, protests, and written publications fighting for women and their God-given rights.

In conjunction with the anniversary, the United States Mint has decided to honor the movement with a Women’s Suffrage Centennial Commemorative Coin and Medal struck in .999 fine silver. While everything that has not already been released has...read more

Two 2020-W Quarters Released Into Circulation

Back in late-January, we announced the United States Mint’s plans and beginning stages of production of the 2020-W America the Beautiful circulating quarter dollars. Like last year in 2019 when they, for the first time ever, released circulating quarters with the ‘W’ mintmark on the obverse representing West Point, they decided to follow up with a 2020-W version. Although this year, they once again upped their game and decided to release them with a special privy mark.

In conjunction with the 75th Anniversary of the end of the Second World War, the Mint has added a privy mark to the left of George Washington’s profile recognizing the highly important time in our nation’s history. The privy mark reads “V75” and has been...read more

100 Greatest Women On Coins Series: Queen Marie Antoinette

What is that famous saying, “Women: can’t live with them, can’t live without them.” But let us modify that statement a little for the contextual obligation we have towards the numismatic hobby. How about, women: making visually appealing and historic coin designs with them, can’t live without them? We tried, OK?

The point is, whether you realize it or not, women have made a significant contribution to coinage history all over the world. Their likeness has spanned generations on coins, medals, and more and we would be remiss not to recognize that. This series is designed to pay tribute to those women on the top 100 recognized by Whitman Publishing (and beyond) and the author of this phenomenal publication, Ron Guth. Without...read more

2020 Silver Proof Set Still On Track For Mid-April Release

While there have been a number of items on the United States Mint’s production schedule that have been moved to “To Be Determined” as far as their release dates, one of the few products still with a definitive release date is the 2020 Silver Proof Set in Original Government Packaging. Set for mid-April, the 17th to be exact, collectors and even dealers alike may find some normalcy within the hobby as the annual set is to mirror the release of last year’s set that included a “bonus” coin.

The 2020 Silver Proof Set, struck in .999 fine silver for just the second year since the Silver Proof Set’s inception, will feature seven Silver Proof coins (10 total coins) encapsulated in two plastic clear lenses for displayability and protection. Of those 10 coins, five (of the last six) quarters in the America the Beautiful Quarters Program...read more
