U.S. Mint Set To Release 4-Coin Proof American Gold Eagles

We have mentioned a few times in other blogs, but tomorrow is finally the day when the 4-coin Proof Gold American Eagle set is released.

Much like every year, the annual set is struck in 22-karat gold in four different sizes: one-ounce, half-ounce, quarter-ounce, and tenth-ounce. Minted at West Point, the Proof coins will feature the classic Lady Liberty design that collectors are used to seeing since its inception in 1986. Packaged in a burgundy velvet presentation case that is lined with satin, the four-coin set will also be accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity. In addition to the four-coin proof set, the coins will also be available for individual purchase in their own Original Government Packaging.

As we are sure you have heard by now, these coins have the potential to be the last ones with the original designs. As of right now, the Mint has plans of changing the reverse design of both the Silver and Gold American Eagle programs in 2021. While not much has been said past that and it is unclear when it will actually take place next year, it may be more imperative to collect 2020 Mint released Silver and Gold Eagles now more than ever. Only time will tell how it will all unfold, but these Proof Gold Eagle options may be the last of their kind.
