Liberty & Britannia Silver Medal & Gold Coin Set For Release On Thursday

Not even a month ago, the United States Mint and The Royal Mint announced their second collaboration in a design that would feature both nations’ historical figures: Liberty and Britannia. With just a design released, not much more detail was given. However, we now know that the series will feature two products and will be available this Thursday, February 8th, at 12pm EST.

The silver medal is struck in one ounce of .999 fine silver and features a Proof finish. Struck at Philadelphia, the medal features a collective effort between United States Mint Chief Engraver, Joseph Menna, and The Royal Mint Chief Engraver, Gordon Summers. It depicts Liberty and Britannia, two very important and historical figures featured on many coins and medals over the years. In this new depiction, they come together on one design as American Liberty represents the bedrock value that Americans look to as Britannia symbolizes maritime power and national pride and unity.

The obverse design features Liberty and Britannia in profile portraits with additional elements, like the image of faces on a playing card. Liberty carries a torch with stars circling her as Britannia wields a trident and wears a Corinthian helmet. LIBERTY and 2024 are inscribed on either side of the design.

With the sun rising overing the Atlantic Ocean on the reverse, it is framed by two shores with a Great Basin Bristlecone Pine tree in the west and an English Yew tree in the east. The design represents both nations and a plethora of new possibilities and growing friendship moving forward. UNITED STATES OF AMERICA and LIBERTY AND BRITANNIA are inscribed at the top in addition to the P mintmark.

The household limit is set at two while the mintage and product limit are set at 75,000. Sales will begin for preorders with an order window of 30 days. Accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity, the silver medal will retail at $89.00.

Struck at West Point, the Liberty & Britannia Gold Coin will feature the same design with a household limit of one and a mintage and product limit of 10,000. The collectible coin will be struck 1oz of .9999 fine 24K gold high relief and feature the following inscriptions on the reverse: UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, LIBERTY AND BRITANNIA, E PLURIBUS UNUM, AU 24 1 OZ., IN GOD WE TRUST, and $100.

Preorder windows are the same as the coin will be accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity.
