The third release in the special issue Semiquincentennial quarters series from the United States Mint will be offered tomorrow in rolls and bags beginning at 12pm EST. Struck at the Philadelphia and Denver Mints, the quarter dollar will honor the Declaration of Independence.
Aiming to commemorate American Liberty by reflecting on our nation’s history and its foundational principles, the 2026 quarters will be a one year only issue and are just a few of the many coins and medals from the Mint recognizing the 250th anniversary of the birth of the nation.
Having already shifted past the Mayflower Compact and the Revolutionary War, we now move to the Declaration of Independence. The obverse features Thomas Jefferson who was not only the third President of the United States but was also the author of the Declaration of Independence. E PLURIBUS UNUM, IN GOD WE TRUST, and 1776 ~ 2026 are inscribed.
The reverse depicts the ringing of the Liberty Bell, showcasing that the now important landmark was often used to share an announcement with the people nearby. The famous crack of the bell is visible while the inscriptions read THE DECLARATION OF INDEPENDENCE, QUARTER DOLLAR, LIBERTY, and UNITED STATES OF AMERICA.
The 2-roll (P & D) set will retail at $56.00 while the 100-coin bags will retail at $63.
Remaining designs for the one-year only quarter program will reflect the U.S. Constitution and the Gettysburg Address.
