U.S. Mint Announces the Release of Liberty Bell Gold Coins and Silver Medal Slated For Mid-July

Last week, the United States Mint announced plans to release three VERY LIMITED edition products on July 16th. As part of their Semiquincentennial Coins and Medals Program, collectors will have the opportunity to own the first non-round silver medal and gold coins in recent United States history.

All three products will be referenced as ‘Freedom Ringing—Liberty Bell.’ The medal will be struck at Philadelphia in 1/2oz of .999 fine silver and retail for $750. There will be two .9999 fine gold coin options available including the 1/2oz and 1oz, both struck at Philadelphia as well. Shaped like the Liberty Bell, the obverse features a Liberty Bell with its iconic crack in the front along with LIBERTY inscribed along the top and the P mint mark. The reverse will depict Independence Hall, which is the original home of the bell. There are fireworks in the background along with the inscription UNITED STATES OF AMERICA. The silver medal only will feature the dual date of 1776 ~ 2026 at the bottom.

In addition, the 1/2oz gold coin includes the dual date of 1776 ~ 2026 and IN GOD WE TRUST on the obverse and E PLURIBUS UNUM, $125, and ½ OZ. .9999 FINE GOLD on the reverse. The 1oz gold option will read $250 and 1 OZ. .9999 FINE GOLD additionally on the reverse.

Each Liberty Bell shaped item will come in Original Government Packaging from the U.S. Mint and will be accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity.
