The first coin in the BRAND NEW Charters of Freedom Platinum Proof Coin Series was released on Friday from the United States Mint. The 2026-dated coin honors the impact of the Declaration of Independence.
Illustrating the embodiment of our American democracy, the three-year series is set to chronicle America’s journey through its founding documents, altogether known as the Charters of Freedom. The new Proof Platinum designs will mark the birth of the United States through progressional details and motifs that symbolize the transformation of American sovereignty.
Struck in 1oz of .9995 platinum at the West Point Mint, the 2026 Proof Platinum Eagle showcases sun rays emerging from storm clouds on the obverse, representing the dawn of a new nation from the chaos of revolution. A quill is also seen sweeping over the design, illustrating the Declaration and America’s founding. Thirteen stars follow along the border representing the original 13 colonies, along with the inscriptions LIBERTY, IN GOD WE TRUST, E PLURIBUS UNUM, 2026, and DECLARATION OF INDEPENDENCE.
The common reverse that will be seen throughout the series features an eagle in flight with an olive branch in its talons. UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, $100, 1 OZ., and .9995 PLATINUM are inscribed.
This coin is still available for $2,895.00 and is limited to 15,000. It will come in a black presentation box along with a Certificate of Authenticity.
